A good deed....

I did a good deed today - I gave blood! I haven't given blood since 9/13/2001! Whats up with that? I live an extremely busy life. Today I realized that I need to give blood more than once every 8 years... Everyone needs to take time out of their routine and do a good deed! I felt great when I left. I felt like I have given back to our community!

The blood drive was held in Kinston at BB&T -Mall branch. We put together this blood drive as a community project for BB&T. Each cluster was given money to put together a Lighthouse Project (A Beacon of Light). Our project was having a community blood drive. I'm not sure how the turn out was, but I am positive it was successful. The lab techs were awesome, and passionate about their job.

Thank you RED CROSS for making the drive a success, and to all who gave blood today! Someone's life will be saved because of us! That feel's good.

And to those who can't give blood - find another way to give back to your community! Volunteer somewhere! I promise you won't regret it!

History Lesson with my son :-)

Wow...explaining the events of 9/11 wasn't easy at all. I can't remember how the conversation started but it led to an explanation of the 9/11, 8 years ago. When I was telling the story, Jordan was glued to me, taking in every word I said. I explained the bad guys, what they did, and what happened. He couldn't believe what he was hearing. His huge brown eyes stared at me in almost shock. I tried to explain the best way I knew how, considering I was talking to an 8 year old. He doesn't need to know all the cruel details of what happened.

BUT I will never forget his words to me when I talked about the good guys - the guys who redirected the plane in PA to save many lives, unfortunately they lost theirs. When I spoke of good people, like people in the military, teachers, moms-dads, etc...he looked at me with the sweetest face and said "like my dad"....and boy did my eyes fill with tears (and so did his).

Yes Jordan, good guys like your dad helped save many lives that day. The good guys are overseas right now defending our country and protecting us so the bad guys don't come here anymore.

May we all remember the lives lost 8 years ago, and the families who lost loved ones...the men & women serving in and out of this country...I will never forget that day, nor this conversation with my child.

PS: To James - "the good guy" - you are OUR hero...and to our son, you are his everything ;-)

To my kids....

To my kids....who I love more than life itself...

I live everyday to see your smiles, to hear your voices, to spend time with....there are a million reasons why I love you, I live for you...

I'm the luckiest girl in the world! I have 3 amazing kids who are a joy of my life :)

When I look at ya'll, I see and hear my mom, still. I'm so THANKFUL to be your mom. Thank you God, for letting ME have them. You are my world and I love you so much.

Love you more and more everyday....
Mama

A Note from A Teacher...

Oh no! Jordan's teacher replied to my note I sent her regarding Math! Imagine my surprise when she told me Jordan gets in a hurry with math and thats why some of his grades aren't where I want them to be....Guess what I was thinking...he hates math, he wants to hurry and get finished and get away from it. You would think he was being asked to jump off a bridge when it comes to math. Be Thankful...you don't live with us. He hates math homework - he cries, whines, makes silly noises (drives me insane). I need Prozac just to help him with homework. He really is super smart, for some reason, he thinks he sucks at math!

I wonder where he gets the idea of being in a hurry and finishing math really fast? Do you think it comes from me? I do most everything in a hurry...just need to get the job done and over with! I have ruined my child....LOL

Michelle

PS: Jordan, you are way smarter than I was in 3rd grade...you have to slow down and just do the work...I promise to TRY to slow down with some stuff I do....Love u big much!

Blogging....

I've been reading different blogs of local people that I know. They are very interesting, its crazy to read about other's lives, and how chaotic their lives are, just like mine! I thought I was only one who was a procrastinator! I know now I'm not the only mom who loves her kids more than life itself. I realize I'm not the only person who cherish's her family - what little family I have left.

I have read letters to children from their moms, hilarious posts about what happens in a mother's day...I'm excited to start my own. Maybe this will be a place for others to follow what happens in my world.....let the fun begin!

Where do I begin....

I have no idea why I started this blog, other than I love to read whats going on in others lives, so why not post about my own! More to come later!
